Born in Tehran, Iran, Parviz Yashar was so captivated by the arts that as a teen he moved to the U.S. in the 1960's, in order to explore his interests at the prestigious ArtCenter College of Design, where he received his B.S. in Industrial Design. In the mid 70’s, Parviz moved back to Iran and took on a position as a professor at Tehran University where he was enthusiastic to impart his knowledge of art and industrial design on a new generation of Iranians. As turmoil in Iran grew, Parviz moved back to California making Los Angeles his home. As an Industrial Designer, he has had the privilege of working with and for companies including Rolls Royce, British Telecommunications, General Foods, Teledyne, Rohr Industries and Wedgwood. Several of his Wedgwood designs can now be found in the Wedgwood Museum in England. Despite his success in the design industry, Parviz’s art always remained his greatest passion and is now his life’s work. Today, Parviz continues to work feverishly from his Southern California studio as he exhibits his works in galleries throughout the U.S. and was honored when his painting "Exit From Eden" was chosen as the cover for the book “Anthropological Futures”, written by MIT Professor Michael J. Fischer, which was later accompanied by a Harvard seminar on Parviz's life and work.
“I think of my work as a spiritual journey beckoning the audience to use their imagination to navigate human truths, where the ultimate goal is freedom of being”.
